Eadweard Muybridge

Eadweard James Muybridge (9 April 1830 – 8 May 1904)

He was an English photographer important for his pioneering work in photographic studies of motion and in motion-pictureprojection. He adopted the name Eadweard Muybridge, believing it to be the original Anglo-Saxon form of his name.
He immigrated to the United States as a young man but remained obscure until 1868, when his large photographs of Yosemite Valley, California, made him world famous. Today, Muybridge is known for his pioneering work on animal locomotion in 1877 and 1878, which used multiple cameras to capture motion in stop-motion photographs, and his zoopraxiscope, a device for projecting motion pictures that pre-dated the flexible perforated film strip used in cinematography.

Etching

Etching is the process of using strong acid or mordant to cut into the unprotected parts of a metal surface to create a design in intaglio in the metal (the original process—in modern manufacturing other chemicals may be used on other types of material). As an intaglio method of printmaking, it is, along with engraving, the most important technique for old master prints, and remains in wide use today.

1. We has choose an image from any of the project. I decited to use portrait from our first project.
2. Converted the image to black and white.
3. Place the image on to a cutting mat and placed a clear plastic on top of the image.
4. After finishing etching, using ping pong ball covered in cloth as a brush to coat the eatching with black oil paint.
5. Using a paper towel, took of the paint, living the paint in the groves.
6. Using wet paper, placed on one side of the magle put the plastic image on to it and other piece of tissue. Turned the wheel and squashed it together.
7. Hanged final image up to dry.
